A doctor boasted(吹嘘) that he had some wonderful medicine. This medicine was so strong that it could stop mosquitoes(蚊子) from biting people. A man who was listening to the doctor wanted the medicine very badly. Mosquitoes bit him every night and he could not sleep. He therefore paid the doctor a lot of money for the medicine. He watched the doctor wrap up the medicine and he took it home.

That night, before he went to sleep, he took some of the medicine. But the mosquitoes bit him all night and he got no sleep. So the next day he went back to the doctor and told him that his medicine did not work.

“How did you take it?” asked the doctor.

“I ate some, of course,” answered the man.

“That’s right,” said the doctor. “But I forgot to tell you one important thing. First, you must buy a mosquito net(蚊帐). Then take the medicine at night when you are under the night. If you use the medicine properly like that, it will not fail.”

     Now cities are full of cars. Some families even have two or more cars. Parking is a great problem, and so is the traffic in or around the cities. Something will have to be done to change it.

    What will the cars of tomorrow be like?

Little cars may some day take the place of today’s big cars. If everyone drives little cars in the future, there will be less pollution in the air. There will also be more space for parking cars in cities, and the streets will be less crowded. Three little cars can fit in the space now needed for one of the usual size.

The little cars will cost much less to own and to drive. Driving will be safer, too. What is more, these little cars can go about 65 kilometers per hour.

Little cars of the future will be fine for getting around a city, but they will not be useful for long trips. If big cars are still used along with the small ones, two sets of roads will be needed in the future.  Some roads will be used for the big, fast cars, and other roads will be needed for the lower small ones.

Once three men got to the Dover at about nine o’clock that evening . One of them asked a porter（行李搬运工）what time the next train for London was . The porter answered, “You have just missed one . They go hourly . The next train is at ten.”
