  firm常译为“坚固的”，“坚决的”，表示具体的事物地位牢固不易动摇；也可表示意志、信仰的“坚定”。如：

  steady则意为“稳固的”，“扎实的”，强调保持平衡不动摇，如指有形物，则指根基的稳固；也可用于指运动中的平稳。如：
